Dolphin Beach
Popular with experienced riders on stronger-wind days and the next major stretch north from Sunset Beach.
Kite Beach
The lively center of the scene, with riders, schools, rentals and nearby amenities. A practical place for visitors who want local instruction.
Bloubergstrand
The broader beachfront combines the classic mountain view with cafés, restaurants and a strong surf-and-kite culture.
Big Bay
A popular northern stop with water sports plus restaurants and facilities around the beach, making it particularly easy for mixed rider/non-rider groups.
Local rule: choose the beach for that day’s wind, swell and rider ability—not because one spot is famous. Sunset Beach can be gusty; Kite Beach is easier for finding the established visitor scene; Big Bay is especially convenient when part of the group is not riding.
Before you ride
Popularity does not mean beginner conditions.
Wind strength, direction, shore break, water temperature and rider traffic all matter. New riders should book a reputable local school and follow their beach choice for that day rather than simply heading to the busiest-looking launch.
The Atlantic is cold even when the air is warm. Appropriate exposure protection and local condition knowledge matter.
